More than $16.5 million in state grants is on track to finance freight railway projects in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The money will help railroad companies maintain and expand freight rail services in the region, said Sara Walfoort, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s manager of freight planning. It will also help business owners upgrade the infrastructure they use to move goods by rail.
