Risk Management
We don't just move cargo. We help manage the risks that come with moving it.
International supply chains face constant risks — from changing regulations and customs requirements to carrier disruptions, security concerns, geopolitical events and unexpected delays. Eastern has established internal processes, tools and strategies to identify, assess and respond to these risks before they become larger problems for our customers.
Trusted. Vetted. Accountable.
Eastern is a CTPAT Verified Partner, participating in U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program. CTPAT is built around supply chain security and requires participating companies to maintain security practices and review their supply chain security profile.
We value our CTPAT partnership because supply chain security is not simply a certification to us — it is part of how we operate. We continuously evaluate the people, processes, partners and procedures involved in moving our customers' cargo.
Eastern is also a member of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA). NCBFAA represents the professional interests of customs brokers, freight forwarders and other transportation intermediaries and provides members with regulatory information, education, industry resources and advocacy.
How Eastern Helps Mitigate Risk
- Supply Chain Security
We maintain processes designed to help protect cargo and identify potential security risks throughout the transportation process. - Carrier & Partner Evaluation
We work with established transportation providers and logistics partners and evaluate service, reliability and operational performance. - Customs & Regulatory Compliance
Our in-house customs brokerage team helps customers navigate classification, documentation, duty requirements, regulatory changes and other customs-related risks. - Shipment Monitoring
Our teams monitor shipments and changing conditions so potential issues can be identified and addressed as early as possible. - Routing & Contingency Planning
When conditions change, we evaluate alternative carriers, routes, modes and operational solutions to help keep cargo moving. - Data-Driven Decision Making
We use shipment information, market conditions and operational data to identify potential risks and make informed decisions based on each customer's requirements. - Global Coordination
With teams across the United States, Canada, Germany and China, Eastern can coordinate locally while maintaining visibility across the entire international supply chain.
Risk Management Is Part of The Eastern Way
Our goal is not to eliminate every risk — that isn't realistic in global logistics. Our goal is to identify risks early, prepare for what we can, and respond quickly when conditions change.
That means our customers have a logistics partner actively looking beyond the shipment itself — helping protect their timelines, costs, compliance and supply chain continuity.
