Business Development Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Eastern Shipping Worldwide is seeking a proactive and driven Business Development Manager with at least 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding sales to expand our client base and grow our business. This role is centered around identifying new opportunities, building and nurturing relationships, and clearly conveying the value of our services to targeted markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire sales process, from lead generation to deal closure, with the primary objective of driving sales and securing long term customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Actively seek out and qualify new business opportunities that align with Eastern’s target market. Utilize multiple channels to connect with prospects, including cold calls, emails, and networking.
  • Lead Follow-Up: Engage with warm leads generated from marketing campaigns and the Sales Support Team, ensuring a strategic and consistent follow-up process to convert leads into clients.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, focusing on understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions that showcase the value of Eastern's services.
  • Value Communication: Effectively communicate Eastern’s value proposition to both prospective and existing clients, demonstrating how our services can solve their logistical challenges and meet their specific needs.
  • CRM Management: Leverage CRM systems to track sales activities, ensure transparency, and enhance communication across all locations, keeping detailed records of client interactions and progress.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed on industry trends and market developments to proactively identify growth opportunities and anticipate client needs, positioning Eastern as a leader in the industry.
  • Diverse Sales Approaches: Utilize various sales techniques, including phone calls, video meetings, emails, and in-person visits, to engage with clients and close deals effectively. 
  • Networking & Representation: Represent Eastern at trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities, strengthening the company’s presence and expanding its network.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • International Freight Forwarding Experience: At least 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding sales is required. A proven track record of driving substantial business growth in this sector is essential.
  • Customer Focus: A proactive, customer-centric approach with strong skills in objection handling and problem-solving.
  • Value Articulation: Ability to clearly articulate Eastern's unique value proposition and demonstrate how our services meet client needs.
  • Creativity & Adaptability: A creative thinker who can generate innovative solutions and adapt to changing environments while working collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Sales Techniques: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage in diverse sales approaches and manage client relationships effectively.
