U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Raises Tariffs on Key Imports from China

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced increased Section 301 tariffs on select imports from China, effective January 1, 2025. 

1. Solar wafers (HTSUS 3818.00.00) and polysilicon (HTSUS 2804.61.00) will now face a 50% tariff.
2. Select tungsten products (HTSUS 8101.94.00, 8101.99.10, and 8101.99.80) will be subject to a 25% tariff.

USTR asserts that these tariff increases are crucial for strengthening domestic production capabilities and safeguarding national security interests within these critical industries.
